Based in London, Leto is a technical consulting firm that helps companies quickly develop their ideas into software products and bring them to market. Where time is spent is critical to Leto's agile process

With the agile development process, it is important for a manager to see who is working on what projects and how much time a developer spends on each project. "What we are really looking for is a tool to help us see where time is spent and make sure that the time is spent wisely," explains Alex Berezovskiy, CEO of Leto. "We looked at a few time tracking solutions but found that Worksnaps is the only tool that gives us immediate visibility into what our guys are working on. With Worksnaps, you can look at developers' screenshots as he is working. That information is valuable for our agile development process."

Being easy to use is also an important factor that Leto has decided to use Worksnaps. "Many time tracking tools require users to start and stop a timer," says Berezovskiy. "This could be a hassle and people do tend to forget. With Worksnaps, there is no need doing that. You just let it run on your desktop and it detects whether you are working or not. Worksnaps tracks your activity and how much time you have worked."

Leto started to evaluate Worksnaps in late 2011 and gradually deployed the tool to more users in both of its locations. The adoption process has been quite smooth and by now almost all the developers are using Worksnaps to track their time.

Flexibility in user management as projects change

Technical consulting and development is dynamic, especially when your customers are fast moving start-ups. Leto has many projects going on at the same time. Therefore it is important to be able to expand the team as a project ramps up or shrink the team when a project comes to completion. "Worksnaps allows us to add projects and users easily," says Berezovskiy. "We have the flexibility to track a developer's work in multiple projects for different clients, all in one interface. This works much better than other solutions that bind a user to a client exclusively."

Integration with business and development process

Leto uses a number tools internally to facilitate its business and development process. "We use Freshbooks to invoice our clients and get paid," says Berezovskiy. "Here is where Worksnaps API comes really handy. We are able to use the API to retrieve the logged time entries from Worksnaps, then calculate the rates, which can be different for different users and projects, and feed into Freshbooks to bill our clients." With Worksnaps API, time based billing can be done by a program automatically, greatly improving the workflow efficiency.

Furthermore, with the screenshots captured from the developers' work, Leto can send a summary of the work details to its clients as a project goes on. "Worksnaps gives our clients the ability to see what's going on even before we have any deliverables," explains Berezovskiy. "So the clients will feel very happy that they can view the work in progress from the first few minutes."

Leto even developed a Python module on top of the Worksnaps API (details can be found in this link) so that they can further integrate the time tracking with their bug tracking and CRM systems.

"We feel that we find the right time tracking solution in Worksnaps," says Berezovskiy. "With our focus on being innovative and agile, Worksnaps helps us better manage time, improve efficiency and eventually improve customer satisfaction."
